Charging at Home
Home is where the electric hybrid can be plugged in.
The most convenient place to charge your vehicle is your home. While most electric vehicles can plug directly into a regular household outlet, you can charge your vehicle faster with a 240-volt outlet and corresponding charger appropriate for your vehicle.
Always consult an electrical contractor about the charging capacity of the electrical panel in your residence. Your contractor can help you determine if any upgrades are necessary, what permits may be required to complete the work, and how much it will cost. If you’re buying a new plug-in electric vehicle, check with your automobile dealer – a home assessment may be included with your purchase.
Some electric vehicles require a specific charger; others allow you to shop the market. Plug In America’s tool can help you review options for at-home charging.
