With this program, GMP customers with electric hybrids or electric vehicles can take advantage of our lower “off-peak” rates by charging their vehicles at night. Customers can also benefit from the charged electric battery in the vehicle, which increases regular gas mileage and reduces transportation costs.
Better gas mileage and lower transportation cost not enough for you? What if we were to tell you that by converting to a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, or fully electric vehicle, you’ll start removing about 8,000 pounds of carbon dioxide from the air? And that electric motors are much more efficient in stop-and-go driving? AND that the power plants that generate the electricity used to charge electric hybrids are far more efficient than conventional car engines? AND it’s much more economical to control emissions at power plants than it is at the end of each tailpipe? AND as the use of electric hybrid vehicles becomes more prevalent and the infrastructure for them continues to improve, costs related to the entire program, and the vehicles, will come down?
