On-Bill Energy Improvement Loan

We are happy to offer our customers an on-bill repayment service allowing Green Mountain Power customers anywhere in Vermont to make energy improvements to their home with the help of a low interest loan from NeighborWorks of Western Vermont. You can make monthly payments as part of your regular electricity bill, no separate bill necessary! Loans can be used for thermal and electric efficiency measures, renewable energy and other services that advance the energy plan of the State of Vermont.

Get started today.

The low interest loan through NeighborWorks offers up to fifteen years financing and up to $40,000. Monthly payments on a ten year loan of $40,000 may be as low as  $257/month and will be added to your monthly GMP bill.

The NeighborWorks H.E.A.T. Squad can help connect customers with qualified contractors to perform a comprehensive energy audit to identify which efficiency projects would save them the most money while increasing their comfort. To get started, GMP customers may call Lori at NeighborWorks toll-free at 1-877-205-1147 x227 or by email lthompson@nwwvt.org to schedule an audit. For more information about the loan customers may call Amanda at 797-8106 or by email at amoore@nwwvt.org.

To qualify an application for a loan, NeighborWorks will check an applicant’s credit score, review utility bill payment history and assess the applicant’s income level for ability to repay.

Mark and Sara Borkowski, owners of GMP’s Energy Homes of the Future, recently used the GMP and Neighborworks bill repayment program to pay for two air source heat pumps for heating and cooling each floor of their Rutland home, a new heat pump hot water heater, and weatherization improvements. “Like many Vermonters, we live in an older home and we really wanted to make our home more efficient, use less energy and save money,” said Mark Borkowski. “Having the option to re-pay for these great improvements on our GMP bill over time made it affordable and possible to make these exciting changes to our home.”
