Net Zero Montpelier
Net Zero Montpelier (NZM) is a bold effort to have Montpelier lead the way as the first state capital in the nation where all energy needs - electric, thermal, and transportation - are produced or offset by renewable energy sources.
Green Mountain Power is one of many partners in this initiative. We'll be working with local homeowners on a pilot project to make energy efficient heat pumps available. For information about eHomes and ways to be more comfortable in your home, click here.
We will also work with the City of Montpelier to locate additional electric vehicle charging stations to supplement the three existing EV charging stations - one behind City Hall and two near the State House. For a complete list of charging stations throughout the state, click here.
In partnership with AllEarth Renewables we'll install solar trackers in a group net metering project involving the Vermont Natural Resources Council, Renewable Energy Vermont and the Vermont Land Trust. The trackers will be on GMP property near the entrance to the city, and will be a visual statement of Montpelier's commitment to becoming net zero.
