Here's what to do if your power goes out:
- Call us. (1-888-835-4672) We need to know that you have lost power.
- Turn off all appliances. Avoid opening your refrigerator or freezer.
- Turn off all but one or two lights. Seeing lights come on signals a restoration of power to our crew.
- Stay away from downed outdoor lines. Assume all lines are live. Touching them, an object in contact with them, or even the ground near them could seriously injure or even kill you.
- Know the symptoms of hypothermia, and take extra care to keep children and the elderly safe.
- Have a plan for where to go in case of an extended outage. Leave your house if necessary.
- If you are on life support equipment, you need to have a plan ahead of time in case we are not able to restore your power quickly. Although we often are able to give priority to customers on life support equipment, in widespread outages it is generally not possible and the outage could be lengthy. If you need help thinking through your back-up plan, please call us at 1-888-835-4672 so that we can refer you to the proper agency for help.
