Chittenden Reservoir Day

Taking a day to give back to Mother Nature.

Our Chittenden Reservoir is one of our most prized hydroelectric sites. It has served the people of south-central Vermont as a clean energy producer and recreation site for over 100 years. The site is surrounded by 17 square-miles of virtually undeveloped high mountain forest. The 750-acre lake’s unspoiled water resources attract thousands of people for year-round outdoor recreational opportunities. Visitors can boat, kayak, fish, hike, swim, snowmobile, snowshoe, and cross-country ski at the reservoir, among other activities. The reservoir also provides a fantastic variety of wildlife, including bald eagles, ospreys, nesting loons, moose, trout, and walleye.

Chittenden Reservoir Day is an annual event held most years in the fall. It celebrates the ongoing harmony between man and nature in this idyllic location. The event draws hundreds of Vermonters each year and includes a cleanup of the public areas surrounding the reservoir and a fun atmosphere for attendees. This year it will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 10am - 2pm.
