In 2006, the Vermont Public Service Board (PSB) approved a new regulatory framework, often called alternative regulation, or “alt- reg,” to streamline how your electric rates are established. It also created new incentives for us to improve customer service and become more effective.
The process includes annual filings so the PSB can review our costs and set rates accordingly. CVPS has operated under a similar plan for many years. Now that we are one company – the new Green Mountain Power – we are in the process of combining our alt-reg plans, a process we expect to complete in the fall of 2012. We believe that this new way of regulating makes a lot of sense. It lowers costs for you and gives us better incentives to perform well for you. We look at this as one more innovative tool that can help us provide you with premier service.
