Trouble Line Worker – Must be Journeyman

LOCATION: Colchester

POSTED HOURS: 11:30 am to 8:00 pm during Daylight Savings Time
9:30 am to 6:00 pm during Standard Time

General Summary (What is done and why.)

The Trouble Line Worker position works with the Trouble Head Line Worker to ensure the timely completion of work related to the construction, installation or maintenance of underground and overhead high and low voltage electric distribution systems. Work is varied in nature. Incumbent applies extensive knowledge of electricity to work performed. Works under limited supervision and in compliance with established policies, safe work procedures and T&D construction standards.

Essential Functions (Majority of duties, but not meant to be all-inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned as necessary.)

Administrative:

  • Monitors work practices and the work site to ensure employee safety and the workflow of crew(s) to ensure work is done efficiently to meet deadlines; trains line workers in conjunction with JATC requirements; and provides input regarding employee performance related issues.
  • Provides recommendations regarding improvement of work procedures; implements approved modifications.
  • Reports general status of all projects to T&D Supervisor daily. Also reports emergency situations to Supervisor or to the person in charge.
  • Prepares, inputs and submits forms and reports required for management and regulatory agency review (e.g., work-orders, timesheets, trouble orders, vehicle deficiency reports, etc.).

Functional:

  • Serves with the Trouble Head Line Worker in team effort to construct, install or maintain overhead and underground lines, transformers and associated equipment, including the setting and removal of meters.
  • Performs all duties of Line Worker First Class A (see Line Worker First Class A job description)
  • Performs one man work specifically defined by the GMP Safety procedure One-Person Electrical Distribution Guidelines

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Minimum education, experience, technical and communication skill levels and licenses/certificates normally required to perform the duties of this position.)

  • Above average knowledge of electrical equipment maintenance principles including safety and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in the techniques, procedures and use of the materials, equipment, tools and methods employed in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical facilities
  • Demonstrated ability to make complex decisions regarding power line construction and maintenance activities.
  • Demonstrated teambuilding skills.
  • Successfully completed the Line Worker Apprentice program and possess a Journeyman Line Worker License.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with a driving record suitable for insurability.
  • Effective written, oral and interpersonal communication skills with ability to train others.

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion the Line Worker Apprentice program and/or technical degree or certificate program.

Working Conditions (Typical working conditions associated with this type of work and environmental hazards, if any, that may be encountered in performing the duties of this position.)
Internal – Little or no work is performed indoors.
External – Work is routinely performed where there is exposure to outside atmospheric conditions or extreme heat/cold or moisture and exposure to traffic while performing line work functions. Work is frequently performed at heights up to 75 feet and on uneven and slippery terrains.
Special – Occasionally work requires scheduled and unscheduled overtime and incumbent may be on call after hours and on weekends to respond to emergency calls regarding line maintenance. Length of day could be unpredictable; long hours may be required to accommodate staffing emergencies or system failure.

Physical Demands (The physical effort generally associated with this position.)

Work involves standing and walking for most of the time, and occasionally requires working at heights up to 75 feet above ground. Work routinely includes pushing, pulling, or carrying objects weighing up to 120 pounds floor to bench, 70 pounds floor to overhead, and holding 75 pounds at shoulder height such as tools, cross arm with pins, insulators and braces above head. Work requires acute olfactory skills in order to detect malfunctioning equipment and electrical shorts. Working conditions, equipment failure and workloads during peak periods may cause increased stress levels.

Working Relationships/Contacts (Positions, other than supervisor and immediate co-workers, with which incumbent has frequent contact and the reason for contact.)

Internal – Occasional contact with engineers, field service associates, meter services, and fleet maintenance personnel

External – Contact outside of GMP is usually limited to customers, developers and contractors.

Supervision of Others - NA

Accountability (Budget/asset amount managed, revenues/profits produced, and/or other financial resource incumbent is accountable for. Also indicates judgment/decision-making level.)

This position is directly responsible for the safe and successful completion of assignments related to the installation and maintenance of Green Mountain Power’s electric distribution systems.


    BI Administrator

     

    Green Mountain Power is seeking an experienced Business Intelligence Administrator to collaborate in the management, integration and support of our growing reporting and analytics environment. This role requires a broad set of technical and administrative skills to implement, monitor, and tune BI systems and applications in a high-availability enterprise landscape.

    The BI Administrator will partner with a wide variety of infrastructure and application architects to create long-term platform strategies and develop and document best practices for data warehousing and enterprise reporting. Candidates require demonstrable experience with and a broad understanding of the Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) suite of tools.

    Primary responsibilities include:

    • Daily operational management of the OBIEE environment including data modeling, cubing, query tuning and capacity planning
    • Installation, patching and upgrading of BI systems across development, test and production domains
    • Collaboration with functional users to understand and realize reporting objectives and how they inform system architecture
    • Scheduling and scripting of daily jobs and maintenance routines
    • Manages the BI application library, including version control for existing applications and the distribution of new applications
    • Supports Web Logic Server and related components
    • Performs root-cause analysis and tuning for poorly performing ETL feeds
    • Supports management of databases and RAC nodes
    • Implements and documents backup and disaster recovery procedures
    • Configures and troubleshoots diverse source systems connected to the data warehouse
    • Establishes and manages system security
    • Provides guidance and support for architects and developers using the OBIEE tool-set

    Preferred candidates will have a minimum of 5 years experience in a BI administration role including 2-3 years of OBIEE experience in a SOA environment; Expert skills in .RPD creation using OBIEE administration tools; Strong knowledge of business intelligence and data warehousing principles, technologies, and architectures—including concepts of data modeling, warehouses, data marts, and operational data stores; Security Manager expertise; Proficiency in programming with SQL and PL/SQL; Linux experience (RHEL/Oracle Linux); virtualization; Storage Area Networks; Oracle DBMS administration skills, including patch and upgrade experience. Excellent customer, team and communication skills are required.
